“Light & Engineering” Journal
“Light and engineering” (Svetotekhnika) Journal is being published since 1932. In the first issue of this Journal M.A. Shatelen writes: “the problems of illumination engineering encompassed not only the domain of physics and technology, but also various fields of biology, physiology, and psychology… The works on illumination technology, that touch upon so many various sections of science and technology will hardly find place in journals for other branches of study.” E.N. Topchiyan was the first editor-in-chief of the journal, then he was followed by L.D. Belkind. From 1955 to 1969 V.V. Meshkov was the head of the journal.
Since 1969 Prof. Julian B. Aizenberg, Dr.Sc. in Engineering is the journal’s Editor-in-Chief. Prof. В. Aizenberg is a full-fledged member of the Russian Federation Academy of Electrical Sciences, Chief Research scientist in VNISI. He is a world-class scientist, the author of 10 monographs, including books in English.
Starting with the first days of its existence and until now the “Light & Engineering” journal is an active and inalienable factor for the development of lighting engineering. It is impossible to overestimate its role in the process of consolidation of the illumination engineering community in defining the objectives and perspectives of the field, in critically analyzing the results, and finding the efficient solutions, considering the many broad-ranging discussions.
The Svetotekhnika (Russian) and Light & Engineering (English) Journals are distributed worldwide and are included in such databases as The Thomson Scientific, Elsevier, and EBSCO, which make them attractive for post-graduate and post-doctoral students in lighting engineering in Russia and abroad. Both Russian and English versions of the journal are included in the list of supported journals by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles. The English version of “Svetotekhnika” is “Light & Engineering”. It is a journal of international importance. The editorial board includes specialists from all over the globe. The English version of the journal is published quarterly in Moscow. Each volume (one year) has four numbers and about 80-120 pages per number.
“Light & Engineering” journal is recognizing by the administration of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) as one of the best issue among three lighting technology journals in the world.
In this journal we regularly publish reference material that is necessary for calculating and designing various illumination installations, considering the problems of energy saving.
The journal provides analytical, background information and reviews of international and Russian literature in in lighting engineering.
